Audio-Technica AT-LP120


The Audio-Technica AT-LP120 is a professional quality turntable made with DJ's and music enthusiasts in mind.  It sports an internal stereo preamp that makes a dedicated audio receiver unnecessary.  This makes the AT-LP120 ideal for plugging directly into a mixing board or your computer.  Stereo line level applications (such as a computer) do require an RCA y-connector (included).  The unit may of course be plugged into a high quality outboard phono preamp for an even better sound. The AT-LP120's tone arm includes adjustments for height, weight,  and antishake.  It also locks for stability during transport making it easy to take on the road.  Precise rotational speed is maintained by a DC servo motor which operates at 33-1/3, 45, or 78 rpm.  This is topped off by quartz controlled pitch lock.  All this adds up to a sound that is probably better than you have ever heard from your vinyl.  DJ's will love the pitch adjustment feature and the stylus target light for queuing.  Get really creative with the forward and reverse play.  Remote start and stop allows you to integrate the AT-LP120 with multiple DJ tools.  This unit has features normally found in much more expensive turntables such as the Technics SL-1210MK5G at a much lower price.

You will not regret the purchase of this player (AT-LP120). I hear lots of chatter that the Technics 1200 turntables are better and they probably are, but they also start at three times the price. For $200, I doubt you are going to find anything better. Brian

Cons

  • No automatic shutoff when you reach the end of an album
  • No ground wire.on the AT-LP120.  May need to purchase a ground loop isolator to eliminate slight hum from the unit. (Ground loop isolator available on Amazon from $10-$25.)
